This is a general guide to star earning from PTC sites.

There are basically just 3 steps to earn money from PTC sites.

2. View advertisements(or click ads)
3. Cash out

Register

Before you register, you need to check the website first. Make this your checklist for website to join.

Site must have a custom design(watch out for designs used by previous scam sites, might be the same scammer admins)
Site must have a forum(members get to discuss about the site or other stuff)
Site must have good support(admin value his members)
Site must be sustainable(the rates are reasonable that the site is in profit for many more months to come and there are no/less self sponsored ads)
Check site FAQ(Frequently Asked Questions)
Check site TOS(Terms of Services)
Check reviews of the site(See what bloggers or general people think about the site)
Check site payment proofs(See if there are proofs that the site is paying)

View advertisements(or click ads)

Sites offer a number of ads to click everyday. You gain from viewing these ads in a certain amount of time(usually 20-60 secs). You have to wait for the ad to be credited, done or ok before viewing another ad. This way your balance will be updated according to each ad you view.

There are ads that only certain members can view.
In NeoBux a standard(FREE) member can view atleast 4 ads.
Golden members get to view atleast 9 ads.

Cash out

Different websites also have different cashout/payout targets. This may also be affected by the type of membership you have.

This is the minimum payout for NeoBux

Minimum Payout:
The minimum payout amount is set at $2.00 (two US dollars) for your first payout request, $3.00 (three US dollars) for the second, $4.00 (four US dollars) for the third and so on until $10.00 (ten US dollars).
This means that when you reach or go beyond this limit, you can request your earned money.

Most PTC now a days offer instant payout, but some PTC still have the primitive cashout of 10,30,60 days from request, usually 24-48 hours from request. NeoBux have instant payouts as well as other new rising PTC sites.

Different sites also have different payment processor.

I only trust 2 payment processors for now. I am still reviewing other payment processors which will be safe to use.
